Solid waste handling

For a commercial style aquaponics, handling fish waste and uneaten food deposits is the biggest task and problem you will ever encounter. If we don't take of this, lot of ammonia could build up in the pond, and remember, ammonia is very toxic for the fishes. There are tonnes and tonnes of videos about water clarifier, swrill/vortex filtration systems, but, end of the day nothing worked out for us for the quantity of water and fish we are dealing with. Sometimes, its better to go with old school techniques. We made lots of race ways like these and started pumping the water from the fish pond to these race ways, uneaten food and fish waste started depositing on these raceways which in turn is a greater manure for the plants ( remember, this stuff is organic too ) It started getting very interesting on how we started using every inch of the space effectively, its very surprising to see how fast and well these trees and shrubs grow well on this recycled fish waste water ...
